Dalton De Bongerd school is in Oldenzaal, in Netherlands. InnoPlay visited there in June and found that the school, people and the area very fascinating. The two school yards, which are around school buildnings, are public places, which are owned and maintained by the municipality. School playgrounds are in vivid use from mornings until evenings
Ten brave and innovative teachers took part in the research; eight women and two men. Each of them have 21-27 children in their groups.
The selection of the themes were
- Group 4a: Grammatic/spelling
- Group 4b: Mathematics/devisible figures
- Group 5a: Natural sciences/traffic, traffic sighs, bicycle
- Group 5d: Natural sciences/Insects, leaves, seasons
- Group 7a: Geography/ Climate, Scandinavia
- Group 7b: English
- Group 7c: Grammatic/spelling
- Group 8a: Geography/ China
- Group 8b: English/ time, weeks, months, seasons
- Group 8c: Geography/ USA
